About
How Our Story Began
Since 2003
We have started SURIYAFARMS a proprietor company in the name of Mr.K.Suriyamoorthi by 2003. My son Mr. venkatesh is taking care of my business since we have started. We had planned to produce agriculture organic fertilizers with which farmers can cultivate their crops with our organic fertilizers. There were so many organic fertilizers available in the market. We took lots of efforts to choose the best that would be viable for both the manufactures and the farmers.
After a detailed study and advice from the agriculture department TNAU Madurai we decided to produce VERMICOMPOST. Before we start our company we installed a trial plant to get practical knowledge about the business. We carefully studied for 6 months with the trial plant at that time we are producing 50 TO 100 Kgs of vermicompost per month. The results were satisfying.

We decided to start our company with 5 ton production capacity per month so we started our company with our own capital. We were successful by marketing our produce to tamilnadu, Kerala, Karnataka. By 2006 we were produce up to 50 tons per month and we successfully started to export. During those days we engaged ourselves by producing vermicomposting with various inputs of agriculture wastes of which coir pith and pressmut were major combinations.
By 2009 our factory was visited by Mr. Jose Manuel a foreigner from Spain who wanted to import vermicompost to Spain and other parts of the world, during his visit he found the coir pith at our factory place and enquired about it and he told us that his main business was importing the coir pith blocks and he was importing 20 container per month. While leaving to Spain he asked me if I am interested in doing a joint venture with him in the coir business. The idea was that he would give me machine to produce the coir pith block and the technical know-how and we should produce only to him as per his requirement. We had an agreement and we started the coir pith blocking making business by 2010. We are still doing it successfully. Our buyer will give us first preference while importing so whatever quantity we produce he will take it from us and source the rest from the market.
We are producing 4 to 5 containers in the peak season. Even though we have inquiry in the market throughout the year we won’t be able to produce any quantity during rainy seasons. In the mean while by 2012 we had an enquiry from a GERMAN based MNC company SYNGENTA asking for a product that was made by pressmut.
This company has engaged themselves in producing rice seedling in tray production and transplanting in the paddy field. We decided to produce for them. Initially they wanted to only procure press mutt for them and later they decided to produce a product named MEDIA with pressmut for them. By 2012 we produced 200 MT for them seeing the quality and prompt delivery they wanted to have agreement with us for 2 years. We were asked to supply 1500 tons by 2013 and 2300 tons in 2014. This was very challenging for us and they gave an advance of 15 lakh which we would be adjusting during the end of the agreement. We have constructed a factory shed of about 10000 sft and installed and big trammel sieving machine for the production process and bought a JCB for our own production purpose. We have successfully done the business as per the agreement.
By 2015 we started to market the same product MEDIA in the open market by ourselves and we have already marketed 1000 MT in this financial year.
Present Days
Now we have planned to expand our coir pith business activity to procure coconut husk. By de fibering the coconut husk, we will be getting raw coir pith (which we are already buying from the fiber mills) and coconut fiber thus will increase our profits in the coming years.
